BENDT was born from a love of beer and whiskey.

When Ryan & Natasha DeHart moved to Dallas from Munich, Germany in 2007, they were unable to find beer like they’d become accustomed to while living in the beer capital of the world. So they began homebrewing. Homebrewing quickly evolved to winemaking, and soon after, distillation of craft spirits.

In 2012, they founded Witherspoon Distillery, initially releasing craft rum, and later bourbon. In 2017, after their business partner left the business to pursue a different career path, Ryan & Natasha decided to venture into pure whiskey blends, all made grain-to-glass in-house. Through the art of blending, endless combinations of aromas and flavors are unlocked, creating blends greater than the sum of their parts.

Given the new direction, it only made sense to give their distillery a new name to match their focus on blending and the bending and weaving of whiskeys together to create unique whiskey blends. In 2019, Witherspoon Distillery changed its name to BENDT Distilling Co.
