Why We Blend
At BENDT Distilling Co., we believe great whiskey is crafted with intention.
Every barrel tells a different story. One may offer bold spice, another rich sweetness, another layers of oak, fruit, or grain character. While many distilleries solely celebrate the uniqueness of a single barrel, we fell in love with something a little different - the art of bringing exceptional whiskeys together to create something greater than any one could become on its own.
That philosophy is woven into our name. BENDT was built on the idea of bending and blending carefully selected whiskeys until balance, complexity, and character emerge in every sip.
After years of experimentation, recipe development, and refining our approach to blending, we released our first blended cocktail in 2017 and our first American blended whiskey in 2019. What began as a curiosity quickly became a passion, and eventually the foundation of who we are.
Today, we remain committed to the craft of American blended whiskey. Just whiskey, thoughtfully blended to showcase the very best each barrel has to offer.
What is
American Blended Whiskey?
Around the world, blended whiskey has long been respected as one of the highest forms of the distiller's art. Some of the most celebrated Scotch and Irish whiskies are blends, crafted by combining carefully selected spirits to create balance, complexity, and consistency.
In the United States, however, the term "blended whiskey" has developed a very different reputation.
Under federal regulations, American blended whiskey may legally contain as little as 20% whiskey and up to 80% grain neutral spirit. While these products meet the legal definition of blended whiskey, many consumers are unaware that the category allows for far more than whiskey alone.
At BENDT Distilling Co., we take a different approach. We believe that just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.
Our blended whiskeys are made from whiskey - and only whiskey. No grain neutral spirits. No shortcuts. We carefully select and blend individual whiskeys to create a finished spirit with greater balance, depth, and character than any one component could achieve on its own.
For us, blending is not a way to reduce cost or simplify production. It is a deliberate craft requiring patience, experience, and an understanding of how different whiskeys work together. Every barrel contributes something unique. The art lies in discovering how those individual voices come together to create something greater.

Our whiskeys have been awarded top honors across multiple categories, from American blended whiskey to bottled-in-bond expressions and specialty releases. Each award represents countless hours spent refining recipes, evaluating barrels, experimenting with blends, and pursuing the best possible whiskey we can create.

BENDT No. 5 is our signature American Blended Whiskey, crafted from five distinct whiskey styles - straight bourbon, rye, malt, wheat, and light whiskey - all distilled grain-to-glass at our Lewisville, Texas distillery using locally sourced grain.
Unlike many American blended whiskeys, BENDT No. 5 contains no grain neutral spirits, additives, or flavorings. Just whiskey. Carefully selected, expertly blended, and thoughtfully balanced to create a spirit that is greater than the sum of its parts.

Our Bourbon Cream begins with the foundation of every great BENDT spirit - exceptional whiskey. We blend our small batch bourbon with fresh sweet cream and natural flavors of vanilla and toasted Texas pecan to create a liqueur that is rich, smooth, and remarkably balanced.
